  • This morning was KROQ‘s The Kevin & Bean Show‘s Annual Miss Double D-Cember Pageant, and it was once again at the Slide Bar in Fullerton, California. Every year at around this time, I look forward to this event, as I get to see a live broadcast of my favorite morning radio show, not to mention the scantily clad women in the competition. As the price of admission, we are once again to bring one unwrapped toy to donate to the Marine Toys For Tots Foundation, which we are calling “Toys For TaTas” just for this event. Thankfully they are sticking with the same place as the past two years, as it’s only a few miles away from my job location. I get off work at 4AM, and since this event starts at 5:30AM, I didn’t bother going home first and drove directly to The Slide Bar. That also means that I wasn’t planning to go to sleep much at all in between either, and in fact as I’m writing this, I just woke up from a 2 hours nap after being awake for about 27 hours.

Feel free to check out the finalists for the Miss Double D-Cember Pageant (which includes photos and a sample video of their “talent”) at http://kroq.radio.com/2009/11/24/kevin-beans-miss-double-d-cember-2010-finalists/ before continuing.

This year at the place of the event, there was more of an effort to direct people away from parking at the place itself with signs pointing where to park instead. The Slide Bar is next to a public train station after all, and they didn’t want us to hog all the parking spaces. I remembered last year I had a slight problem trying to cheat the system, so I willingly parked at the areas they indicated we can park at, which was just a block or two away from The Slide Bar. Not too bad really, as the city is going to allow us to ignore the “2 hours parking only” signs for this morning. Nice. At one moment when I was walking towards the Slide Bar after parking, a car stopped to ask me where the place was, and although I did not notice it at that time until after the fact, it was one of the Miss Double D-Cember contestants who asked for directions. hehe sweet

It was just a little past 5:30AM when I finally got to The Slide Bar, and there was already a decently long line to enter. So there we all were in the foggy cold morning, patiently waiting to get in, just casually socializing with the people around us. In my case, in the sea of many many many men who attended this event (it was a sausage fest), I was actually befriended by a girl, who most people from the event will remember as “the girl who wore the really skimpy Santa outfit” (santa hat, red tube top, green gloves, white short shorts, black boots). It was pretty cold at the event and she definitely was not dressed for the weather, but the men there definitely did not mind. Coincidentally enough, she is actually one of the journalists for the “Kevin & Bean Archive,” which is the primary website I go to that allows me to listen to the show at work! I owe her boss a lot of thanks for the service they provide. So she ended up hanging out with me for several hours throughout the event, that it actually looked like we were already friends who went there together (and I guess I didn’t mind that mistake).

From this point on, I don’t see the point of me trying to write more about the show, when KROQ’s Live Blog recap at http://kroq.radio.com/2009/12/04/live-blog-kbs-miss-double-d-cember-2010/ does a good job of covering the highlights from the event. They also have a photo gallery that you can look at and video footage from the event at their website. You can even listen to the whole show from this morning via The Kevin & Bean Archive or from the KROQ Kevin & Bean podcast.

The Miss Double D-Cember pageant was a fun event to go, especially if you are a huge fan of the show. I got to admit that I think the overall contestants from last year was better, but there definitely were several stand outs this year. I got to give the show credit, the contestants they chose were there because of the size of their boobs as the primary requirement, and not for the stereotypical beauties with hour glass figures that you normally would fine in these pageants. How’s that for being fair to females everywhere… wait, this is the Kevin & Bean show we are talking about right? lol

For a whole hour after the show ended, I talked and got photos with most of the cast of the show. That was like a game in itself trying to achieve that, as they were all over the place, both trying to wrap up their gears and at te same time greet the many fans who want to meet them. I did not get a photo with the winner though, because for whatever reason she didn’t really mingle with the crowd afterward. I did however get a photo with who I thought should have won, so that worked out better for me I suppose. Oh, I should mention that I did not take any video at all from the event, as I wanted to concentrate on nothing but photos for this. Also worth mentioning during the event, we as an audience created some new “sound drops” that they recorded, which is pretty much us in the crowd contributing something for the show to use. Pretty sweet.

So let’s see. I saw a live broadcast of The Kevin & Bean show, met the cast of the show, befriended somebody from the KnB Archives, boobies, alcohol, and a free breakfast… well that was a pretty good morning.
