"I am here to test this xanga thingee..." was my very first post here in this blog. I bring that up because
today is my FIVE years anniversary with this xanga blog. It's incredible to think that I was able to keep my dedication in updating this blog every single day, and I hope that the people who have been following me here, have enjoyed getting to know who I am as a person. Which brings me to the point that if you've noticed (and I think I have mentioned this before), despite how open I am about my opinions and experiences here, I believe I still have not mentioned my real name, exactly where I live, and exactly where I work. That is of course done on purpose for some privacy precautions. I'm sure if you dig hard enough on the internet, you will probably find the answers to those.
Originally, I wasn't even going to use xanga as my home for blogging. My first pick was actually "blogspot.com," and my first blog was located over there (see for yourself :
http://patrick005.blogspot.com/). I've since created a few more other blogs like on
myspace or
the Meg & Dia fan blog pages, but xanga is still were my "real" blog lives. One of these days, I'd like to just browse through my whole blog and find my entries that were worth noting (and archiving). I know the first year (or two) were kind of directionless, but I think there were still some choice blog posts then. It's kind of funny how much information about who I am is located in this blog, and I even joked about it to my wife saying that if I ever get amnesia or Alzheimer, I could always find out who I am by reading what I wrote about myself here.
That is sort of the whole purpose of why I keep a blog in the first place. It's my life journal that is intended as a personal chronicle of who I am. The fact that it's public is besides the point, because I am doing this first and foremost for myself. Well, except for the random links, which I started posting because I thought it'd be easier for my friend to find viral video links through my blog. Movie reviews were also intended to be made public, and I was motivated to do those because I have several people asking me my opinion about the movies I've seen. The funny thing is that
facebook actually does everything that I'm doing here in my blog (and more), but I have a certain loyalty to xanga, so I'm going to keep chugging along here. Here's hoping that I will be able to make a post about my blog's 10 years anniversary on July 11, 2014.

Congratulations! I've been with my blog for three years. It's good to know that you're keeping it as a part of your life. ;) I find it inspiring when you said that you have had blogging sites other than Xanga, and yet this is where your "real" self is. Keep it up! :)
@UnpredictableIdentity - Thank you for the kind words. I'd like to think that I'm living up to that "TRUE" xanga badge that's on my user profile. "Firm in allegiance; loyal; faithful; steadfast" indeed. Xanga for life.
congrats :) i'm sure you'll be able to make it to 2014 as long as the site is still up!
@kalamai - Thanks. There were those rumors that xanga was going under, so I hope that's not true
