  • Alrighty then, this year for Christmas gift giving, it seems that I am
part of two secret santas.  So what I did is that I seperated my
wishlist to two sections.  One specifically for my family, and one
for my friends. This will also help avoid any possible duplicates. I added hyperlinks too to make things a little more
easier.  Oh, as always, a Best Buy gift certificate works as well.

  • So I got back from a Metallica concert at the Arrowhead Pond in
Anaheim, and it was pretty darn cool. This was my third time seeing
them this year, with the previous two being in Los Angeles early spring
2004.  This is also my sixth time seeing them live since August 28, 1998, when I officially became a hardcore fan.

Godsmack once again opened for them, but this time, instead of ditching
them just for Metallica, I actually came early to see them.  They
weren't bad at all, and the highlight of their show was this awesome
drum duel.  One thing that I thought was amusing was Sully (lead
singer of Godsmack) mentioning how he is liking the Anaheim crowd,
compared to what he called the "jaded posers" of L.A.  hahaha,
this is so true.  The only thing good about the L.A. shows was
Metallica's performance, while the venue and the crowd simply
    sucked!

About a half hour after Godsmack's set, Metallica came on stage and the
crowd went nuts and LOUD.  The crowd was definitely the loudest
I've heard from a Metallica concert.  Later on, Kirk Hammet
(Metalica's lead guitarist) even mentioned how loud we were. The whole
setlist that Metallica played was good, although it was primarily
material from "the Black Album" and "Master of Puppets."
Personaly, I was hoping for more stuff from St.Anger, especially
considering that this is their St.Anger tour.  Anaheim though came
off like it was The Black Album tour.  My personal best highlight
of their gig was definitely Rob Trujillo's bass solo.  It was
incredible, and I hope that it will be available for download from
livemetallica.com so that I can listen to it again.

The other highlight was about a seat to the front left of me was this
long haired hot chick, pretty face, with an excellent figure, wearing a tight tank
top, "painted on" jeans, gyrating like there's no tomorrow, headbanging
away, with her fist up in the air showing the devil's horns.
Needless to say, she is sooo my type of woman, and I believe she was
Pinay too!  If I wasn't looking at Metallica, I was looking at
her. ~ drool ~   Considering how
rare it is for me to meet a girl who is into metal; yet alone a hot
looking Asian, I have no problem in possibly making her a new friend .
Talk and look but no touching yes? I even made up my mind to ask her
after the show, if she wanted to grab a late dinner with me. But alas,
it wasn't meant to be because she left about 3/4th's through
    Metallica's set.

My head and neck hurts from headbanging too much.  My throat hurts
from singing along too much (I mean screaming too much).  My arm
hurts from my extensive pumping and extending of it for busting out the
devil's horns.  I was standing about 3hours straight, so that
probably didn't help too much either. But it was a fun night.  I
was even able to obtain one of Kirk Hammet's guitar picks  that he threw to the crowd, so that's a plus too.

I probably won't be seeing Metallica live for a good year or so from
now, since they might go back to the studio to work on their next
album.  But it was good times for sure.

  • This whole week I re-watched all 15 episodes of the TV series Firefly on my DVD box set
I think I'm going to start a thanksgiving tradition by doing this every
year, because I love this show so much that I've got to thank it's existence by watching it.  It's easily in my top
five most favorite TV series of all time.  It also easily has one
of my most favorite TV characters of all time too.  I'm still
overly disappointed that they canceled it (two years ago now), because
I would love to have seen more seasons of this well made show. What's
ironic is that ever since it was released on DVD, I now start to hear
more and more people talk about what a great show it is and such. The
first question that comes to my head is "why weren't you watching it
when it was still on TV?!
    "

Back then, the people (like me) who were fans when it was still airing
would try and get people to watch Firefly, but what did we get? Fanboys
bitching and complaining about the show's quality, in how they don't
really like the whole western bit, in how they don't find it
compelling, how it's not comparable to Star Trek or Cowboy Bebop. Damn
idiots don't know what they were talking about.  It's not just
them either, since it's FOX that's really to blame for not giving Joss
Whedon the support he needed to keep the show running.

There's a quote in what would be the final episode of the show that
touched me in a different way than it was probably intended.  I
took the quote as it describing the fate of the show being represented
by the ship "Serenity," and the doctor as it's creator Joss Whedon.
"I like the way the walls go out.  Gives you an open feeling.
Firefly's a good design. People don't appreciate the substance of
things.  Objects in space.  People miss out on what's
solid...... It's not your moment, Doctor."

*sigh* at least I'll be getting a Firefly movie Sept 2005, now simply titled Serenity.  It's
still a long ways from now, but it's still better than nothing. If by
chance the movie does really well, maybe they'll make a TV series of
    the movie.

  • Thanksgiving! Time to give Thanks.

I thank my girlfriend for being my lovely honey.  I thank my
doggie for being so cute and fluffy.  I thank my car for taking me
places.  I thank my family for showing me that a family is
good.  I thank my friends for all the goofing around. I thank my
cellphone for being able to hear me now, good.  I thank Metallica
for being MY Metallica.  I thank the shows I watch on TV for
proving that TV isn't all bad. I thank music for all my motor
    mouthing.
I thank the movies for providing me a seat where I can put my legs on a
rail. I thank video games for being able to make me feel happy that I
shot somebody in the head. I thank my laptop for being a roving
entertainment machine. I thank the invention of CDRs & DVDRs for
reasons I don't need to mention. I thank my digital camera for
capturing moments that I will regret to have captured in the
    future.  I
thank the internet for providing me with yet more things to waste my
time on.  I thank my bed for putting me to sleep. I thank my
memory for being so forgetful that I'm probably missing some other
    things I should be thanking.

  • Last week, there was an incident regarding a promotional piece for ABC's Desperate Housewives before Monday night football
If you've never seen it, the clip was a parody of the show Desperate
Housewives. Nicolete Sheridan appears wrapped in a towel and beckons
the player to skip his game for her. Although no nudity is shown, it is
implied when Sheridan drops the towel to the floor and jumps into
Owens's arms.  Now go back to the part where I write "no nudity is
shown" and wonder what the problem is. The skit wasn't even worthy
compared to "SKINemax" as they only show the naked back of a
woman.  Not even a shot of the butt for cryin out loud!  If
something like that is considered inappropriate, then there's A LOT of
things on public broadcast that's MUCH worse than that. Where does it
    end?

Put it this way as well. After the incident happened, you want to guess
what every news show did? Why, they showed the whole clip uncut in
their news program, over and over again. Should we complain to those
news stations for showing such a "vulgar" scene on national TV?

This country is simply going INSANE!!!

  • I'm currently in one of those relationships were my girlfriend's family
isn't exactly fond of the fact that she is with me.  It's
primarily because of a combination in that I'm not filthy rich and I'm
not part of their ethnic culture.  My girl usually makes it a
point for me to avoid contact with her family (except for the few that
are cool with me) because she doesn't want to hear any flack or sermons
from them about me.  I personally don't really want to meet her
family because of their attitude about me, and the fact that we won't
be able to converse well due to the language barriers.  So me and
my girl have the same idea, me meeting her family is currently not a
    good idea.

One thing about this though is that her parents primarily live abroad,
which allows me to spend a lot of time with her because she gets the
house to herself, except for the occasional visits from her
mom.   Well this is the first week where her mom is here for
a visit for about two weeks.  That means that I won't be visiting
her at her home at all for that time.  What's also bad is that my
pet doggie is primarily under her watch at her home, so I won't be
seeing her much either.  Well I just found out that those two
weeks is now going to be about three months. THREE MONTHS!  That's
a long time.  Sure she's going to be visiting me in the weekends,
and mostly she's going to take our dog with her, but still....

I know this situation with her family is something that I will have to
resolve at some time.  But right now I have a lot of things going
on in my mind and life, that I am not ready (or willing) to do
    something about it.

  • I just played Halo 2 with a friend on cooperative mode, on the highest
difficulty level, for SIX hours straight!  Oh My God, I just can't
type anymore, I need some sleep.
