Well, the past week has been something busy for me. It was either me
being sucked into E3 news online, my Dad's birthday, my parent's
wedding anniversary, watching Star Wars, actually attending E3, and
going to my relative's wedding. So yeah, I'm beat and
tired. For several of those days, I didn't really get much
sleep. I was sooo occupied that my e-mail has just been piling
up, and my recorded TV shows haven't even been seen yet. Hopefully this
week will be more relaxed, so I can catch up on all the things I wasn't
able to do.But for now, after three days since I watched it, here's my Star Wars Episode III review.

Star Wars Episode III : Revenge of the Sith, gives us the final send off to this movie franchise that George Lucas
started in 1977. I've got two words to sum up the movie, NOT
BAD. The previous two prequel installments weren't exactly as
memorable as we hoped they would be, but this time Lucas did some
things correctly. The emphasis on Anakin turning to a full fledge
villain gives the movie some emotional value that the other two were
lacking. There were less technical mythological and political
scenes in this one (although some is still there), and it only helps
makes the movie's main core story more effective. The one main problem I had with the film though, is the dialogue.
Lucas has never really been that great with dialogue in the first
place, but some scenes comes off really awkward by the poor
writing. Another thing lacking in this film is some light
heartedness. While Obi-Wan and R2D2 provided some humorous scenes
in some moderate doses, this film is primarily darker than a normal
Star Wars film is. I suppose one thing that the original trilogy
had going for it is the character of Hans Solo, which really helped add
that needed sense of whimsy. Unfortunately for the pre-quels, the
closest thing to a Hans Solo is Obi-Wan, and it's simply not up to par.
Although this has Ewan McGregor's best work as Obi-Wan Kenobi. The best thing in Revenge of the Sith is Ian McDiarmid's
work as Supreme Chancellor Palpatine and as Darth Sidious. The way he
handled the manipulation of everybody and everything that occured is
simply astounding. The way he influenced Anakin to go into the Dark
Side of the force also created some great moments in Star Wars
mythology. His work here will forever be remembered by the fans
for years to come. So, we got great characters showing their best work in Star Wars.
You got great visuals paired with awesome actions sequences (the most
light saber battles in a Star Wars film). You got an engrossing
storyline between Anakin's turn to Darth Vader, the fall out of his
relationship with Padme, Obi-Wan's inner conflict to fight his friend,
and the great Darth Sidious. Despite some flaws the movie has, this is
definitely a good addition to this franchise. B+

I definitely agree about Lucas' awkward dialogue! I haven't seen Revenge of the Sith yet; I think that will be a project for this weekend.
