So I saw Madagascar
because I like animals, and thought it looks cute. Sure enough, it was
a cute movie, but it's not up to the quality of a Shrek or a Finding
Nemo. But at the end, the movie has many flaws in it. Firstly,
the humor honestly isn't that funny. A lot of the humor are
geared towards little kids, like a fighting granny or your typical
sight gags. Then you have the humor that's geared directly at adults,
with the movie referrences or the "it's like a Puffy party" type
jokes. The problem there is that, the majority of the time, the
humor isn't that funny. It's like the writers can't find the proper
balance between the kids and adult humor, and eventually dragged down
the plot because of that. It's sad because the story itself is
quite compelling, with the concept on what would happen if domesticated
animals end up back in the wild. A stronger non-kiddy movie would
have took that concept and gone all the way with it, but all Madagascar
did was tackle the subject in a very traditional fashion. So
that's pretty much how the movie ended up, a lot of unfulfilled
potential. I'll rate it a "C"
