  • The Kevin & Bean show
from the Los Angeles radio station KROQ 106.7 did one of their "party
machines" to say farewell to their sports commentator "Money," who is
leaving to work for the Los Angeles Lakers. It isn't often this
happens, but they decided to have this event in Orange County,
    California.  More specifically, Hooters
of Anaheim! I happen to work three miles away from there, so I was most
definitely going to go since it's open to the public. The party's from
    5:30am - 10:00am, and since I work graves; I'm off at 6am. Perfect.
I'll just be staying up a little later after work thas all.

I got there by about 6:05am, and there was already a short line outside
since Hooters was already filled to capacity at that point. I was only
the tenth person away from the door in about a line of twenty people,
and we just had to wait for people to leave to get in. Not a big deal,
unlike me just getting off work, I'm sure there are many people in
there who need to leave for work. After about fifteen minutes of
waiting, I still wasn't able to get in, but looking over my shoulders,
the line of twenty people is now a line of over a hundred people!

By 6:25am, I was able to get in, found a table to sit at, and ordered
myself a $1.67 beer; which is the special for the morning (you know
106.7 = $1.67). Later on, I would order a couple more glasses of beers
(not just the special), and a plate of onion rings. I also chose quite
the table to sit at as well, since apparently the hooters waitresses
passes by it almost everytime.  Not only that, but since it's so
crowded, they always happen to accidentally brush up against me, even
when I try and move out of the way for them. *blush* Speaking of which,
I noticed that besides the female KROQ staff and the hooters' girls,
the audience was unsurprisingly primarily male, with maybe 10 percent female
(some were hot though). Not only that, but Asians were definitely
underrepresented in the crowd. But then, this IS a KROQ crowd afterall.

So the party pretty much consisted of us drinking, eating, playing
games for prizes, taking pictures, while the crew do their live
broadcast from a corner of the room. It was soo noisy in the room
though, that it was kinda hard to hear the broadcast.  You had to
go to the restroom if you wanted to hear the broadcast clearer. So
apparently, the first hundred people that came for the party received a
limited edition t-shirt for the event, and the rest were going to be
given out as prizes.  I myself got a t-shirt for drinking a glass
of pickle juice! Luckily, I like pickles, so it wasn't bad at all and I
chugged down the whole glass non-stop.

I stayed until about 8am, when I decided that I've done all the
drinking & eating that I wanted to do. I realized that I'll be
missing several more contests and other things since there's still two
hours more to the party, but I'd had my fun and thought that I'd at
least open up a spot for some person standing in line outside (it was
like more than 200 people outside when I left).

So Money, good luck in your new job!

p.s. I didn't bring my digital camera to the party, but I did use my
camera phone. Despite the lack in quality due to the poorly lighted
room, here are some pics anyways....
