The past two months I pretty much lived in two homes, my own home and
my girlfriend's home. I would average about four to five days at
my girl's place, which is a lot more than the one or two day average
that I used to do. For the most part, I'm rather enjoying it, and
if anything else, it makes me want to completely move in with her. I
honestly can't say right now if that will happen or not, but it's
crossed our minds a lot lately. On a related note, we've talked about our future home together that we
plan to own. There are currently two choices at this time.
Her current home (owned by her Mom) or a house that her Mom is using
for rental purposes (recently vacant). I visited that house recently
and with some fixing, it's actually quite nice. It's a one story house,
two car garage, three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a study, living / dining
room, family room connected to the kitchen, and an additional patio
room at the yard. In the current market
value here in California, my girlfriend's house is currently $800k
while the rental place is $600k. If the market stays that way in
two years (our current time frame goal), we're most likely going to
choose the rental place to purchase. But if the market goes down
at that time, we'll just purchase the house she is staying in right
now. We'll just see what happens.
