I went to two family x-mas dinner parties.
The first family is one that I've always dreaded meeting, my
girlfriend's. For the longest time we've been together, for the most
part I'm not exactly her family's first choice in who her boyfriend
should be. With that, we've avoided meeting each other.
This Christmas though, my girl was invited to her family's neighbor's
dinner party. Not only was she invited, but they specifically requested
that I be there. At first I thought I was getting ambushed or
something, but when I finally met them, everybody was playing nice and
there was no negative incident whatsoever. Needless to say, it could be
because of the occasion that everything came out okay, and I wonder if
they were "holding back" their opinions about me. Also it should
be noted that my girl's family here in the states are her aunt, uncle,
and cousins. Her father and mother are still back in her homeland
of Taiwan. That'll be another thing I'll have to deal with in the
future. The second dinner party is with my own family. Unlike my girl's
relatives, she has always been accepted since the beginning so it's
more or less a normal thing for her to be in my family gatherings. Well
this year out of a lot of years spending Christmas with my family, I
really got into the spirit of the season. I had a strong sense of ....
"happiness" to be surrounded by the people I love. We ate dinner
together and did our gift exchanges. I swear, these are the moments in
my life that make me appreciate what I have.Merry Christmas everybody!
