  • "American Idol" returns to record season debut."

"LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - More than 35 million people watched
"American Idol" return to the Fox television network, the
biggest audience yet for a season premiere of the hit talent
show, Nielsen Media Research said on Wednesday."

Oh Snap, seriously?!! I can recognize American Idol to be cheap
fun entertainment (I stress the "cheap" part), but does this many
people really really really enjoy this show? What does that say about
the TV audience, or America in general? "Throw your brain out the
window and just enjoy it" must be the mentality that people have. Or
maybe, people are just suckers to seeing people humiliate themselves,
and/or are really drawn to this overblown karaoke competition just as
they would for a basketball/football game. People complain that TV is
just an "idiot box," and yet shows like American Idol gets 35 million
    people watching.

A show like this simply doesn't deserve this kind of success,
especially when there are such quality TV programming out there that
get cancelled because of low ratings (maybe they were "too good" for
the TV audience). The CDs sold to the public that were spawned from
American Idol doesn't even reflect the number of viewers who were
supporting the show (besides Kelly Clarkson's CDs ).

So what gives America?! What gives?!

p.s. It's American Idol's fault for making a no-talent hack like Ryan Seacrest actually be successful.

  • There's one thing about this week that's been bugging me. For some
reason, I keep thinking it's the following day! At least, my body feels
that way. When it was Monday, I thought it was Tuesday, and so
    on.  It's really annoying.

This month of January is almost over in less than two weeks.  I've
got to say that besides my favorite aunt visiting and my Mom's birthday
(today), this month has been very uneventful to me. It's just a
standard typical month it seems. ho hum.

  • Your Birth Month is July
Introspective and intense, you tend to be a deep thinker.
You are quiet and spiritual - and you have a unique perspective on life.

Your soul reflects: Lightness, luck and an open heart

    Your gemstone: Ruby

    Your flower: Larkspur

    Your colors: Green and red

  • I can't say I blame getting older or anything, but my body has been
demanding I get about 8-9 hours of sleep a day.  Normally I only
do about 5-6 hours a day, but lately that hasn't really been the
case.  It's unfortunate too, because with my work schedule, I'm
normally able to cram in about 6-7 hours of free time before I have to
leave for work.  But going as much as 9 hours of sleep a day, I
only get about 4-5 hours of free time. Maybe this is just a side effect
of my getting the flu that whole week.  I'm sure I'll get back in
the groove in a week or so.

  • Well this is kinda wierd for me these past two weeks. I still feel the
Christmas spirit. Merry Christmas and all that. In fact, as I type
this, I still feel like it's that time of year.  Maybe it's not so
much wierd but me being nostalgic with my Childhood.  Back in the
Philippines, being primarily a Catholic country, the "holiday" doesn't
really end until about a week (to as much as two weeks) after the New
Year. I confess that I'm not really a practicing Catholic anymore
(haven't gone to Church for years), so I'm not sure exactly what day
officially ends Christmas. But either way, it's odd that I'm still in
the Christmas spirit. Maybe it's because I missed a week of the
Holidays to my flu and my mind is just "making up" for the time lost.
It's kinda nice to tell you the truth, as it makes January feel a lot
    better than just another month.

yeah I'm wierd, but you should know that by now.

  • check out what I overheard at work...
This guy said he used to work at some construction job.  The boss
they had was an a-hole. So what did some of his co-workers do? They
found out where their boss lived, waited at the driveway of his house,
and when he and his wife came home, they beat them up with baseball
bats! You know how the guy that told this story finished it off? "Hey,
after that, he wasn't such an a-hole anymore."
wow, I guess they found a way to produce something positive out of violence.

  • There's one thing I've been procrastinating to do since I posted my
blog entries recapping 2005. My top movie list!  There's a reason
to the hold up. It's because there were still some 2005 released
movies that I want to see first. BUT since it doesn't look like I'll be
doing a lot of that in a timely manner, I may as well make a post on
my top favorite movies of 2005 that I actually saw.  This is my journal afterall if
anything else, so I'd like to keep it recorded here.
