  • I don't know if this is a common thing where you work or go to school, but there's a decent amount of people I encounter at work that are either in a band, or are trying to be in a band. There is one particular guy I meet at work who actually is in a band, and have even released an album not signed by a label yet. That band is Darvoset, and the album is "No Hiding" (the one I listed yesterday in my "what I'm listening to this week...."). The band member that I actually meet once in a while is the guy who does their effects, loops, samples, and sequencer lines; Randy. He told me a couple of weeks ago that a couple of independent music labels were interested in Darvoset.

Recently, Randy approached me and asked if I would be one of the first people to listen to their second album. I ofcourse gladly accepted. He let me listen to the full CD but made a note to tell me that isn't the final production yet. So far from what I heard isn't bad, and is still in tune with what their first album sounds like. They are making more grounds in creating songs that definitely stood out more and even has a ballad thrown in there like most bands do. I was even able to suggest a couple of things and commented on stuff that could be improved.

That experience was kinda a thrill for me, as it made me feel like I was part of the process in making an album with a band. It only made me wish I was actually in a band. Maybe in another life...
