  • Lately I've been calling all them young Southern California girls, with
slim but fit bodies, who are hot yet cute at the same time, "Laguna
Beach type girls." When I'm referring to Laguna Beach, it isn't
necessarily just from that region, but Orange County in general. The
real referrence though is that stupid reality show on MTV, "Laguna Beach : The Real Orange County."
If you are not from So Cal, and are wondering what exactly is the look
of So Cal females, you don't have to look further than that show.
Ofcourse it doesn't cover all the other ethnic groups, but for the most
    part, that "Laguna Beach look"
isn't far off from reality. I swear, they really are like living barbie
dolls, that it's kinda scary. Just look at the most popular one out of
that cast; Kristin Cavalleri. Now imagine a whole bunch of girls that look like her roaming the streets of Orange County. Exactly!

  • I don't know if this is a common thing where you work or go to school, but there's a decent amount of people I encounter at work that are either in a band, or are trying to be in a band. There is one particular guy I meet at work who actually is in a band, and have even released an album not signed by a label yet. That band is Darvoset, and the album is "No Hiding" (the one I listed yesterday in my "what I'm listening to this week...."). The band member that I actually meet once in a while is the guy who does their effects, loops, samples, and sequencer lines; Randy. He told me a couple of weeks ago that a couple of independent music labels were interested in Darvoset.

Recently, Randy approached me and asked if I would be one of the first people to listen to their second album. I ofcourse gladly accepted. He let me listen to the full CD but made a note to tell me that isn't the final production yet. So far from what I heard isn't bad, and is still in tune with what their first album sounds like. They are making more grounds in creating songs that definitely stood out more and even has a ballad thrown in there like most bands do. I was even able to suggest a couple of things and commented on stuff that could be improved.

That experience was kinda a thrill for me, as it made me feel like I was part of the process in making an album with a band. It only made me wish I was actually in a band. Maybe in another life...

  • You Are 90% "Average American"
You are average because you support affirmative action.

You are not average since you would pay to go in space.

  • Man, procrastination is really kicking me in the ass.  It's literally been years, since I started procrastinating on a bunch of stuff at home, and it just kept piling up and piling up. With some recent determination to get things finally done and over with, I took last night off from work. As of my writing this, I've been awake for about 24 hours already, and I'M STILL NOT DONE! I'm roughly 60-70% done with everything, but clearly one day off isn't enough. I'm not going to call in tonight though, so I'll just stretch out the work load for the next few days. *sigh* time to go to bed, gotta wake up in five hours.

  • I recently bought "Fight Night : Round 3" for the xbox 360, and wow is it one of the better boxing games I've played in a long time.  Most boxing games are usually two different types, simulation but boring / hard to play, or arcadey which is fun to play but hardly realistic. FNR3 happens to pull off a realistic setting with fun gameplay. I haven't even tried the career mode yet or tried online play, but me and my friends are having fun with some great multiplayer matches. Not only that, but there's a "create a boxer" mode, that allows you to really go all out in customizing your character. Below are pictures of my attempts to create myself in the game. It's still not quite right, but I'll alter it as time goes by.

  • Tomorrow will be the 78th Annual Academy Awards, so here are my picks on who will win. These aren't exactly my personal choices, as I haven't seen several of the films nominated (like Brokeback Mountain).  I'm basing my guesses though, on the knowledge that the Academy votes more on emotion than on logic. This list wll only cover the main awards that I'll be looking forward to, so some categories will be omited (like "Sound Mixing" for example).

    - Who I think will win -

    Best Picture - Brokeback Mountain
    Actor - Philip Seymour Hoffman
    Supporting Actor - George Clooney
    Actress - Reese Witherspoon
    Supporting Actress - Michelle Williams
Animated Feature - Wallace & Gromit in the curse of the were-rabbit
Art Direction - Memoirs of a Geisha
    Cinematography - Brokeback Mountain
Costume Design - Memoirs of a Geisha
    Directing - Brokeback Mountain
Documentary - March of the Penguins
    Film Editing - Crash
Makeup - Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith
    Music (score) - Brokeback Mountain
Music (song) - "In the Deep" from Crash
    Visual Effects - King Kong
    Adapted Screenplay - Brokeback Mountain
    Original Screenplay - Crash

There were some really tough choices up there. I can easily see Matt Dillon and Rachel Weisz pull a fast one on the supporting acting categories. Pride & Prejudice might win best art direction, as there are a lot of Jane Austen fans out there. I also prefer The New World getting best cinematography over Brokeback Mountain. Murderball or Enron might upset the March of the Penguins in the documentary category. Costume design could go either way (Pride & Prejudice perhaps). Same goes to directing, adapted screenplay, and original screenplay, which are honestly the hardest categories of the bunch to logically guess (my 2nd guesses would be Crash, Munich, and Good Night & Good Luck, respectively.

It's a given that Brokeback Mountain is going to win big though, with the best picture award being their highlight.

  • I'm a Catholic, although I don't really practice the "rituals" very often.  In fact, I haven't gone to church for mass or confession in a very very very long time.  Well yesterday was Ash Wednesday which is the start of Lent, and I had the opportunity to go to church.  I did not though, because I don't want to be one of those people that only go to mass on special occasions (how's that for commitment?). But being that it is now Lent for us Catholics, for the next seven Friday's (until Easter Sunday), I am not suppose to eat meat (except for seafood meat like fish). Now this is something that I've actually been able to uphold to my Catholic upbringing. So now I just gotta remind my friends that if we eat together on a Friday, it's going to have to be fish / seafood friendly.
