Late this past Halloween night, I was at the Downtown Disney district in Anaheim, CA. There was hardly anybody around at that time (12:45AM), but I came across two guys walking by. I greeted them in passing when it turned out that they were two band members of the ska band "Reel Big Fish." I couldn't believe it, as it was just something I wouldn't have expected. It was one of the trumpet players and the lead singer of the band that I got to meet. I asked them why they were just out and about, not in their private tour bus or something. They told me that they were local, and the bus was going to pick them up somewhere else. I opted to give them a ride to where they were parked.
We got to talking about the band and stuff. They asked me what CD I was playing in my vehicle ("Push To Talk"), mentioned that they thought it was pretty good. We then talked about some venues I've been to see bands; like the Knitting Factory in Hollywood (where I saw Push To talk months ago). I even mentioned that years ago, I was an extra in a film called "Basketball," where I was in a crowd of people in a stadium, and Reel Big Fish themselves was the band playing there. They remembered that taping, and joked about how that was back in their hey day. We parted ways a little bit after that, and I was left there going "wow, Reel Big Fish, I wouldn't have guessed for that to happen."
