Shrek the Third (2007) B-
Coming off from the previous installments of Shrek, "Shrek the Third" has a lot to live up to. It's easy for me to say that it was an enjoyable film, however I have to admit that it just wasn't as funny as the first two films; although it did have some good humor. The story moves along at a reasonable pace, and it's a good plot to progress the characters of the movies. The graphics are nice and the choice of music / songs has always been a strong suit for the franchise. It has some really memorable moments, but honestly not as much as I would have expected. One thing that I did appreciate however is that unlike Shrek 2, this installment did not rely on too many pop culture references for it's jokes.
28 Weeks Later (2007) C
I am a big fan of "28 Days Later," and was excited for this installment. I saw "28 Weeks Later" with some friends and we all unfortunately came out very disappointed. There are some pretty cool
memorable "zombie" moments (like the whole first sequence - excellent),
but that's about the only good thing about 28 Weeks Later. Plot holes
up the wazoo, that completely ruined any suspension of disbelief. It
also took one huge giant unbelievably stupid plot hole to bring back
the rage virus. Any social or political commentary in the movie was
just tacked on to add any kind of weight to the whole plot. Film makers take note, more gore and more explosions does not make a better film.
Announcements have already been made for the Fall 2007 primetime TV lineup. Lots of shows returning and lots of shows not returning. Of the shows not returning, I'm disappointed that one of my favorite serial shows "Veronica Mars" didn't make it through, as well as the game show "Identity" that I really enjoyed watching. Of the shows returning, I'm surprised to see that all three Law & Order shows are coming back; although not with some lineup changes. For the most part, my TV viewing landscape hasn't changed too much, unless I decide to follow any of the new programming. I'm usually a little hesitant following any new shows, because I fear that I might just get hook on yet another thing.
There's quite a few so far that I'm kinda interested in, like "Reaper," and "Back To You," plus the mid-season entries of "The IT Crowd," and "The Sarah Connor Chronicles" (which I'm definitely going to watch). There's a couple of reality / game shows that I might check out as well, like "Kid Nation," "The Singing Bee," and "Search For The Next Great American Band." Also in cable television programming, the new episodes of "Futurama" is finally going to see the light of day at Comedy Central.
I've been saying these past years that this is truly the golden age of television, and so far things are still looking up.

Tonight's going to be a bit different for me at work. I've consistently been in one area, one operation, and one set scheduled time (9:30PM - 6AM) for well over two years now. Just for this one night at graveyard, I'm going to be in a different area, operation, and time (11PM - 7:30AM). I like the idea that I'm going to have more time at home with my fiance before I leave for work, but I'm not sure about leaving work that late. I wonder if I'll actually hit traffic in the morning. Luckily, this is my "Friday at work" so I'm off the next two days. This shift in work time shouldn't be too bad for me.
I've been seeing and hearing a popular news item lately. Alternate fuel source, like ethanol and biodiesel, have been a big subject these past few days. Whether it be the tv, news radio, or talk shows, this subject has been brought up a lot.
I've always been curious about the whole biodiesel thing myself, but I wonder how much I can stand the smell of chicken or fries being emitted from my car. Driving would just make me hungry all the time!

I recently spent $183.30 on ordering some tickets online. A good chunk of that cash went to ticketmaster's unreasonable service charges (it would have been $138.90). Man, I wish we really did have an alternative online source for buying tickets, because ticketmaster the way it is right now is ridiculous.
There's this forwarded e-mail that's been going around lately, I'm sure you must have seen or heard of it. "Do Not Buy Gas On May 15, 2007." It's pretty much asking for a "gas out," to "fight back" against big oil companies and their raising gas prices. That e-mail gives out some information about how much profit the oil companies will loose if we all do this, and how we're all sticking it to them. Here's the problem though, GAS BOYCOTTS DO NOT WORK! If anybody is going to get hurt by this action, it's the regular joe mom and pop retail owners of those gas stations, who don't get much profit from gas sale in the first place. Don't believe the forwarded e-mail, it's not going to make an impact whatsover. Below, I provided two links that further talks about the flaw in this proposed gas boycott. The underlining message however is that if we really want to make a difference, we have to consume less gas. Simple solution, but apparently hard to do.
