Recently, video games have once again been accused of corrupting the children of the world (link : Fox news on "Mass Effect"), and quite frankly it's getting really really old. If you watch the video of the link I provided, out of the whole panel of people who talked about the game, only ONE of them actually played it (games journalist Geoff Keighley). I know Fox news is also known as "Faux news," but that was honestly just shoddy journalism on their part. I feel sorry for Geoff Keighley trying to have a conversation with those idiots, what with their ignorant statements. I also laughed at that woman saying "what happened to the old days like pac man, pong..." What an ignorant dumbass! I lived through those days also, and she makes it seem like the industry took a turn for the worse when "she left it."
Seriously though, instead of having to defend the content of our games to people who won't play our games in the first place, we need to compare it to some things they do understand. Movie ratings. We need to get these close minded people to understand that an MA rated game (what "Mass Effect" is rated) is suppose to be the equivalent of an R rated movie. I'm sure they know how R rated movies have mature content, so they shouldn't be surprised if those same content are available in MA rated games. Then tell them that sexual content in MA rated games are actually equivalent to a PG or PG-13 rated movie, just to further prove a point. If parents are paranoid enough to hide an MA rated video game from their kids, then they shouldn't be hypocrites by leaving their DVD of an R rated movie out in the open.
