  • This goes out to everybody that drives on the freeway...

If you are on the "fast lane" of the freeway, there's a couple of things you need to look out for.
Do you have about a 1/4 to 1/2 a mile distance away from the vehicle in front of you?
Are the cars to the right of your lane moving significantly faster than you?*
When you look at the rear view mirror, do you notice a long line of cars following behind you?

If you answered Yes to those questions, then for the love of all things good, either go faster or change lanes! Don't you realize that you are actually causing more traffic by not utilizing the empty spaces in front of you, thus causing the cars behind you to stack up and back up the freeway? I don't care if you are following the speed limit, because if you want to do that, then go use the slower lane!

If everybody was driving the speed limit, then nobody will be able to change lanes, because you can't squeeze in between cars that are going the same speed as you. It's only going to make it harder for people to change lanes and get out of the freeway, and in turn will actually cause more problems. Just think about this, if all the cars "in front of the line" are going the same speed, then they are essentially acting like a wall, causing the freeway to just get congested from the amount of cars that are piling up. The video "55: A Meditation on the Speed Limit" even demonstrates that.

General rule to live by folks.
Drive fast, stay left. Drive slow, stay right.
    Be a non-competitive Driver.*
Leave a gap of space in front of you.*
Stick to one lane whenever possible.*
