• Ah the internet, lots of new words either being invented, altered, or abused, for whatever purpose needed. A more recent one that i have never heard of used came to my attention.

  "White Knight" or "White Knight Syndrome"

  According to the Urban Dictionary, it's a personality characteristic found in most males that lead them to:
  
  1. rush to the aid of any female they see who appears in any form of distress.
  
  2. Become attracted to said damsel in distress.
  
  3. Follow the dying code of chivalry and generally act like a nice guy.

  That doesn't sound so bad right? Well, howabout when someone is "white knighting?" In forum parlance, it means rushing to the aid of another poster for
  whatever reason. An accusation typically reserved for when a poster is
  being hammered by another poster(s) and the accused leaps in to defend
  them, usually without thinking things through as to why the person is
  being attacked.

  I see white knighting happen often when a female celebrity or a female in general is being "attacked" by a lot of posters in message boards or forums. There's always going to be that one guy who has to be the white knight and defend the honor of the girl. Whenever that happens, somebody will always have to remind him, that he should be aware that the girl he is defending is not going to hook up with him because he is being a white knight, it's all just wishful thinking on his behalf. While I guess it's admirable to defend a girl's honor; even if it is just the internet. I have to admit that it's usually really just some guy who wishes he could have a girlfriend or someone who just wants to get laid. Sad ain't it? But you know it must be true.
