  • Stupid Stupid Stupid. I have a set of rules when it comes to downloading stuff from the internet on my PC, to avoid getting viruses and what not. To my disappointment, I ignored my own rules and did in fact get a virus. The file I was downloading was a video (nope wasn't porn) that when I played on Windows Media Player, a pop up prompting me to update it came up. It looked authentic enough, but I should have known better. As soon as I pressed yes to the update, I realized that maybe that wasn't the best decision. Nothing happened though, although I was wondering why my PC was installing something on shutdown. That's when I realized that it was going to be a problem. On the next reboot, nothing happened still, but I did notice that a few of my icons disappeared. I immediately started my anti-virus and sure enough, there was this virus. It took care of the problem, but still, it shouldn't have happened in the first place.

On another note uTorrent kinda screwed me. Apparently it has this glitch that if you use the program to delete the torrent files, it sometimes only deletes part of the file from another directory and not the "save as" folder. So now when I try and delete this torrent I downloaded, it claims that the file does not exist even though it's clearly there. People online suggest downloading "unlocker" to solve my problem, but unfortunately it does not work with my Vista 64 bit laptop. The file isn't doing anything and isn't eating up space, but I find it annoying that I cannot get rid of it.

  • Sorry to hear about the virus.  But it could've been worse.
I'm really happy that you and your lady are planning to make the wedding!  We'll be sending out invites in a few weeks.

Just got Street Fighter today.  Having a hard time with the controls.  Never was an expert with the original so it'll take some time to get used to.  Thinking about getting the SF Dpad control with the six buttons.  Are you playing with the default 360 controller?  And on a tangent: Did you ever get the Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe?

And I also have the problem with the uTorrent file that wont disappear on my Vista laptop.... except it's even more annoying because it's stuck on my desktop.   I've tried a few things mentioned in the forums, but to no avail.  So if you find any way to get rid of it : Please let me know!!!

  • sounds like the time i *updated* my adobe flash. the prompt looked legit and i ended up not being able to boot diddly. had to reformat! =( good luck!

  • @dtranrob - I actually use the default 360 controller for SFIV. I also prefer to use the analog stick over the d-pad, which I thought works really well. Don't care for spending over $40 just for a fighter pad. I haven't picked up MKvsDC yet, because I'm waiting for it to get cheaper in the used bin pile. Besides, I'm all about Street Fighter right now.

Is your Vista a 64bit version like mine? If it's not, you may want to try "unlocker" http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/

  • @kalamai - luckily I'm no where near the point of needing to reformat my laptop. Thank goodness.
