- Bing vs Google. A battle for your web searching needs, seems like a stupid thing to care about. Well, yeah, it kinda is stupid to care about it. Everybody's pretty much used to using Google and don't really think much about using an alternative, however I hear that Bing is suppose to be making some in ground. Recently I read how when it comes to search trends, Bing is beating Google in a relatively significant way. Bing is simply suppose to be more "up to date" than Google, which makes me think that maybe there is something to this Bing thing. So for these next few days, and possibly a week or two, I will use bing as my primary search... *ahem* i'm sorry... "decision" engine, and google will be my secondary. I might even consider only using bing, just to really test it out. Let's see how this goes...
- Anybody else a little shocked at how popular Twitter really has become? It was popular before, but not it's just REALLY popular. At first I was thinking that although it can be a very useful tool, all the "non-substantial-news" that is usually found in Twitter, will cause it to eventually fade away like the fad it is. However with boosts from the Iran situation taking advantage of it, and any social networking news automatically being called "twitter" by the media, I'm thinking that this is going to stay for a relatively long time. Sure the argument about how Facebook can do what Twitter does and more do exist, and it's a fair question to wonder what makes it so different and special. The key thing that Twitter does right is that it caters to the public really well by being very accessible to the public. There's no need for friend requests in Twitter, which makes it easy for people to just jump on board, while Facebook still has a more "private" feel to it (which I do love). Just keep in mind that myspace also had a very public feel to it's social networking, and look where it's popularity is at now.

well, let us know how bing goes. i'm curious but not enough to use it myself just yet
when it's online, everything is a fad. popularity comes and goes =P while twitter may be popular in its own way, i don't see it as a replacement/threat to facebook. if anything, people will continue to use both rather than jumping ship like they did with myspace (i know some people who have deleted their friendster/myspace).
Bah! Everyone's an exhibitionist now. I'm guessing give it 10 years and everyone will be paranoid about their privacy again.
For now it's just like when websites first became popular. Everyone was doing it and there were a lot of really retarded websites. But then people learned to ignore them and they just went away.
The same thing is happening now with twitter. There's a 80% drop rate in twitter. Eventually everyone will realize no one's listening and they'll stop using it.
After the chaff get filtered out we'll find some interesting twitter feeds to pay attention to.
Actually I like the concept of twitter, but a private one on my own server. It's perfect for monitoring little bits of data like heartrate and activities and other thing automatically. I can see it people updating their location on it automatically from their iphone and whatnot. Post probably should remain a blog thing instead. For that matter, here's a novel use to twitter where they use it to transfer files like how everyone distributed pr0n and warez in the 90s on newsgroups: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kUcLbmU5fHk
