  • So youtube sent me an e-mail today and this is what it said...

"Your video "Jonah Hex" panel (2 of 3) - Comic-Con 2009 has become popular on YouTube, and you're eligible to apply for the YouTube Partnership Program, which allows you to make money from playbacks of your video. Once you're approved, making money from your video is easy."

The two words that popped up to me immediately of course was "make money." Really? I actually have a video that's eligible to make some money on the side? But here's the problem though, the other key words I needed to consider are "Once you're approved."

One of the keys things from the guidelines involve making sure that the people in the video sign off on allowing me to make money off their images. This particular video in question stars people like Josh Brolin and Megan Fox, soooo.... I don't think this happening? There's also the grey area of the fact that although Comic-Con allows us to video tape the panels (except for the audio/video shown on their screens), it's still questionable if I'm allowed to make some profit off that. In fact I have a feeling that footage from comic-con is only really suppose to be used for non-profit means, unless I get permission. So once again.... I don't think this is happening? Sure I could try and see if I'm eligible, but I don't think it's worth the risk. The guidelines does say that if I'm not approved (due to some copyright means or whatever), they will automatically delete the video and possibly even suspend my account. Ouch.

Making money off the internet is one of those current day dreams that people have in mind. You simply put something simple up on the internet, and it'll make you money with no additional work. That's the dream isn't it? That dream just teased me, and unfortunately reality sets me straight.

p.s. I don't personally know anybody who uses Youtube Adsense, so any advice on this is appreciated.
