- The celebrity culture craze continuous. I recently came across this pet store that actually specializes in ONLY selling little dogs. The reasoning behind this store is that these are dogs that owners can carry around with them, or put in their purse, or something like that. You know, like Paris Hilton and her ilk. Really people? Is this really the reason for a person to own a dog? I was actually a little surprised that this kind of pet store exist, although I suppose I honestly shouldn't have been surprised. These pets are probably from puppy mills anyways, so this is a horrible situation all around. BTW, I'm not saying what the name of the store is, because I do not support it.
- Have you heard of the HAPPY Act (Humanity And Pets Partnered through the Years)? It’s a bill that has been introduced in the House of Representatives, that would offer a $3,500 tax deduction for qualified pet care expenses. As a pet owner (2 dogs), I think this is a pretty cool thing to happen if it comes true. Sure it seems odd for the government to be spending more money on things like this in these economic times, but the bill was most likely created to push people into adopting a pet or at least encourage folks to not abandon their pets. The problem I see here is that some people might go ahead and adopt a pet just for this sole purpose, and not actually care for it properly (that would be bad). We'll see how this goes.

the saddest thing i read about the "teacup" designer dogs is that they have more health problems than not. so basically you're shelling out a bunch of money for a defective dog. so you end up spending even MORE money to keep it alive. sigh. why one even wants to carry such a dog around is odd enough...most places don't welcome pets. whether it's in a purse or not! i mean really, do these owners even bother putting leashes on these dogs?
I haven't heard of this act, but I would assume that for the tax deduction to actually count, one would need proof (i.e. vet bills/pet store bills)...now I wonder what the qualifications could possibly be -_- maybe it's just another bill that helps the rich rather than low income owners -_-
