Well tonight at work was relatively an easy one, I had to train a new
Lead (area supervisor) in my area. Sure that’s another person
that might move in on my location, but eh what they hey… anyways, she
already knows the way I work as a Lead so she has an advantage to
figure out how to do things. However she is a little stubborn in
trying out my work proven methods and decided to do things her
way. I’m usually one that is open for people using their own
styles, but her method seemed a bit unorthodox. With that in
mind, I let it go, in fact, I practically didn’t really do much
training, and just let her go through the night mostly on her
own. If she had a question, I was there to ask, and if I noticed
any glaring problems, I told her about them.So at the end of the night she asked me if things are usually this
difficult, which kinda surprised me because I thought it was a
breeze…hehehe…that’s right, I didn’t do jack crap!
What do you think, should I have actually trained her more, or did I do the right thing in making her learn the hard way?

Albert, Albert, Albert…
You know how Youngins are, they think they know everything. Us Olddies can only try to impart our hard earned wisdom upon them, but sometimes you must let the Youngins make the mistakes for that is the only way they are willing to learn. So worry not fellow Olddy you did all that you could. Now if the Youngin was to return to you to seek your aid, consuel and wise teachings once more, then their minds will be opened and they will be more willing to heed that which you have to say.
ps and be certain to call them “young grasshopper” once in awhile it will remind them who is boss!!! YEAH MAKE THEM SUFFER!!!
Yea I think you did the right thing albert. They learn better off experience anyways. And just make sure she knows if she has any questions about the job that you are free to answer them.
