So DVDs are finally the established format when it comes to home video,
and the players are very much in practically every home. Heck,
not counting the PCs and laptops, I have FIVE DVD players in my home. I
suppose I could say it’s only four if I didn’t count the xbox, but I
digress.Anyways, what’s the life expectancy of a DVD player? My friend also has
several DVD players in his household, and they’ve finally gotten to the
point where they have a life of their own. Admitedly, all his
players are no name brands, so… *shrugs* but still…. Anyways one of
his players only plays original copied DVDs; no copies, the other one
plays only copied DVDs; no originals, and the other one plays whichever
it feels like playing. I can probably guess that it’s the laser
that needs either replacing or cleaning or something, but he only had
his players for maybe a little over a year now. Now, I do own one DVD player that I’ve had since the beginning of 2001,
and it still works the way it should. But then it is a Panasonic
brand, so maybe that helps? Another player in my household is a
SONY brand, and that one works fine, but acts up when it comes to some
copied DVDs. Maybe the question shouldn’t be how long a DVD player lasts, but
what brand do you have? What are your experiences with DVD players, or from people you
know?
