A little over two weeks ago I said that I am now going to put myself open to a new job. So far I uploaded my resume to monster.com
and I did get several responses from several companies. As of Oct 27, I
turned them ALL down. It all came down to my preferences to what
I expect my new job to be, and a huge thing there is that I want a
steady weekly income. A lot of the jobs that were offered
to me didn’t provide a base salary and that was more or less the reason
why I turned them down. The other jobs paid less than what I’m
making now, while others simply didn’t get a good vibe from me.Could I possibly be too picky? I don’t think so. Besides my
desire to wish for better pay at my current job, everything else is
excellent. Hours, benefits, and the people are stellar. I’m
holding my new choice to a high standard that will allow me to pull
away from my current job. Who am I kidding? I simply want
my new job to offer me considerably more money ($5k – $20k more) than
I’m getting now to push me for that change. But a base salary is
still a must.Well that was step one. Step one being just putting my resume out
there and see what happens. Step two, is for me to actually look
up what’s out there, as well as submit my resume to other sites like
hotjobs and careerbuilder. Step two is where I hope something
significant will happen. But I have to be patient and can’t rush
into this.I am still waiting for Peter to give me more info on his job that will
convince me to try for there though. But we’ll see on that.

There is an advantage with not having a steady salary. NO FORCED OVER TIME! If you get paid monthly perpare to work late. I noticed that if you get paid over time, employers will only make you work one or two hours over. But if you work for salary you work till the job is complete. Which can be a few hours or a dozens of hours of after hour work. Sure you can go home early, but that will affect your future at that company.
I know that, which is why I’m going to be picky at what the job is.
