  • here’s a comment I read online…


    There are so many problems with TV…(rant)

    I will list them by channel…

    Comedy Central: They show the
    same episodes of Madtv every day. I had finals last week so on
    wednesday I came home from school at 12:50, turned on the TV and
    witnessed some stupid skit “whooda thunk it” So I turned the tv off.
    Then the next day at the same time, they had the SAME show on. I have
    noticed this on other occasions as well. Comedy Central also shows the
    same episodes of Drawn Together on wednesday and thursday. This doesn’t
    make sense to me, and I don’t like it.

    VH1: We get it, your
    three new shows are Strangelove, Celebrity Fit Club, and The Surreal
    Life, this doesn’t mean that you have to repeat them over and over and
    show commercials for them at the same time. If I turned on the tv to
    VH1, I would probably see one of those shows.

    MTV: What can I say that hasn’t already been said? No more videos. MTV sucks, end of story.

    G4ttv: Look above and replace MTV with G4ttv and videos with good shows.

    E!:
    All I really see on this network is that new Elektra behind the scenes
    special. Other than that, no real complaints. They show Howard Stern,
    what can I say.

    Food Network: More Alton Brown, less of Rachel
    Ray. God, can she have an opinion other than, “This food is SOOO good.”
    I could accomplish what her show accomplishes in 30 minutes in 2
    minutes. I would go on the Internet, print out some restaurant
    locations and descriptions, and say, “The food here is orgasmic!” Done.

    Here’s MY comment to that, as well as a general commentary…

    Your best bet to enjoy TV is be a selective TV viewer. If you only
    watch the shows you actually like, then you will be happier with TV.
    Now, to find shows you actually like, do it the old fashion way, go by
    word of mouth (friends, internet, ads, or even commercials), check out
    the show, then see if you like it.

    The
    Nielsen ratings prey on channel surfers and base their numbers on those
    people. Selective TV viewers is still something they do not put into
    account. We live in a TiVo thinking society right now (record, then
    watch later, fast forward through commercials), and the nielsen,
    networks, and advertisers do not like it one bit.

    Ofcourse, if
    there really isn’t anything on TV that you want to watch, then don’t
    watch it. We also live in a DVD viewing society, where we can watch TV
    shows through that medium. You also have video games to pass the time
    too, if you are so inclined.

    There may be a lot of problems with TV, but there are also a lot of solutions for them.
