First off, for some reason I thought the images in the album cover were doves or birds or something, I guess I was wrong.
Going into Modest Mouse – Good News For People Who Love Bad News, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect. I’ve only heard one song (Float On) and a little bit of another (Ocean Breathes Salty). Being that this is considered in the “alternative” genre, I’m not entirely the best person to judge the material. However,
I did enjoy the album, even though I wasn’t blown away by it. It
seemed that I gravitated towards the more “standard” tracks than the
really alternative ones. I’m not sure where I stand in
recommending the album, because it depends if a person is willing to
listen to alternative music. My track choices right now (plus the popular “Float On“)…
04) Ocean Breathes Salty
11) Satin In A Coffin
13) Blame It On The Tetons
15) One Chance
16) The Good Times Are Killing Me————————

To be honest, I wrote off this band as another “garage rock” type band
that can’t produce anything really appealing in the long term.
Well, listening to Jet – Get Born,
I’ve grown an appreciation to their throw-back sound to simple rocking
tunes. This album has a good mixture of rocking sounds with riffs that
sound almost like AC/DC, and some soft rock that come off more
impressive to me than their harder stuff. All in all, the three
singles out right now (Are You Gonna Be My Girl, Cold Hard Bitch, Look What You’ve Done), plus the really well done album, I’ve gotta now give Jet a big recommendation for fans of good old rock and roll.Along with the great three singles out now, these are some other good picks…
03) Rollover D.J.
06) Move On
08) Get Me Outta Here
10) Come Around Again
12) Lazy Gun
