  • I saw Cellular on DVD
recently, and I have to admit to being pleasantly surprised at how much
I enjoyed it. As a thriller, once it starts, it never stops, so I
appreciate the pacing they put for the movie.  I also like the
“real time” aspect of the whole thing happening in one afternoon.
The actors didn’t really stand out that much, but they were effective
in their roles. The story is somewhat predictable to a degree, but it’s
done well enough that you won’t mind at all. Definitely worth checking
out, and I would give it a “B.”

I also finally got a chance to see Hotel Rwanda
and I was happy that a movie like this is getting some attention
recently. This is a story that shows the state of the world that we
live in, when a country in dire need of help gets shunned by the
nations that should help.  It’s a very sad and depressing state of
affairs in the film, but at least it shows awareness to the
    situation.  Don Cheadle
did an excellent job in this film and deserves all the accolades that
he is receiving for his work here.  His character was very
inspiring in the way that he dealt with the crisis. This film is like
the Schindler’s list movie for Rwanda, and is one of the best films I’ve ever seen, which I shall give an “A.”

Ong-Bak: Muay Thai Warrior is a good martial arts film, but it really isn’t as spectacular as others
are hyping it up to be. It’s definitely better than many martial arts
movies that’s been showing up of late though, because it feels
nostalgic to movies like The Big Boss, Project A, and even Fist of
    Legend
. It’s also a great showcase for Phanom Yeerum (Tony Jaa) who
definitely has talent as a martial arts action star. It has a decent to
mediocre plot and the stunts aren’t as stunning as I was led to believe
they were going to be. The “replays” for the stunts can get tiring too.
The fighting though is top-rate with some great choreography. The
camera-work and lighting in particular are excellent in showcasing the
grittiness of the fights. All in all, I definitely recommend the movie
just for Phanom Yeerum. So it is definitely worth checking out and I would give it a “B-.”

oh, and I thought this was funny (taken from imdb)…

To those of you of legal age…if you think your liver is strong enough, I challenge you to face the Ong-Bak drinking game…

there are only two rules, but I assure you this will be enough.

Rule #1: Whenever Tony Jaa hits someone with his elbow take a drink
Rule #2: Whenever the same move is shown from a different angle, take 2 drinks

To those who are truly brave, you may modify Rule 1 into this:
Whenever Tony Jaa his someone with his elbow take a drink, if the blow is delivered to the top of his victims head, take 2
