  • - Dog runs off part 17 (at least it feels like it happened that much) -

So I went over to visit my dog at my girl's house. First, I let her out
to the backyard to do her business before walking her.  So I went
back in the garage which she happily walks right in.  I
immediately noticed that one of the garage doors was wide open!  I
must have accidentally pressed the garage door opener on my belt when I
was at the backyard.  My dog didn't notice it open though, so I
tried to call her out to the backyard again.  She must have
thought I was going to leave her abandoned in the backyard, she didn't
want to come back out.  So taking a risk, I decided to try and
close the garage door and hope she wouldn't notice..... yeah,
right.  SO, hearing the garage door move, she runs straight
    out.

I chase her out and noticed her head towards one of the neighbor's
house, and she disappears off to a corner of the side wall.  I
thought I could maybe corner her there, but upon getting there I
realized that there was no side gate from keeping her out of that
house's backyard. At first I started calling out for her to get out of
the backyard.... yeah, right, once again. I got two choices, and that
was to ring the doorbell, or just trespass.  I chose option number
two with an excuse in mind already.  So I chased her in the
backyard and she was pretty intent of not getting caught.  I
eventually chased her out of the backyard, without getting the
attention of the residence too (or so I think).

Upon exiting the backyard, I see her run down the road and off the
corner.  All of a sudden, I hear the scream of a little
girl.  I run faster and notice my dog fighting with the little
girl's pet dog.  The girl was crying and screaming, trying to swat
my dog away from her dog with her leash.  I get in between the two
dogs, and chased my dog away from the girl and her dog.  I still
couldn't grab her though! She then runs far off to another house's
front yard and starts taking a dump!  I try and run there as fast
as i'm able to grab her while she is preoccupied, but by the time i get
there, she was all done.  So the chase is still on!

Eventually, she stops over another front yard sniffing around, and I
sneaked up close to her and grabbed her tail. She barks at me, but I
grab her collar and get her to stop.  I then walk her back home
and kept her leashed in the garage. Bad Dog, bad baaaddd dog!

Later on, I went house to house looking for that little girl and her
dog, and eventually found her home.  I talked to her and her
parents about what happened, and they were thankful that I showed up to
tell them.  She and her dog weren't hurt, but I went ahead and
gave them my telephone number, just in case something comes up.
Luckily, they were kind and understanding about the situation, and I
gave them my sincere apologies.  I hope that the incident didn't
traumatize the little girl too much, and she would still be brave
enough to walk her dog out the house.

    oh that dog of ours!

  • After seeing this week's episode of the Simpsons, I've gotta ask now.
Is the Simpsons still relevant to people?
I remember years ago when people would talk about the most recent
episode of the Simpsons, or start saying quotable lines from the
show.  Today, you don't hear that as much. The sad truth is that
while the show is still entertaining in it's own right, the last
seasons haven't been as memorable as it used to be.

It's probably due to the fact that the writing staff changes, or that
there is too much push to have celebrities in the show, or that
anything significant in the show is forgotten by the next one, or maybe
creator Matt Groening isn't putting his all anymore to the show because
    Fox cancelled Futurama,
or maybe they just don't know what to do anymore. It's like everything
is on auto-pilot and the staff is just coasting along. I suppose it
doesn't help that there's also some serious competition from South Park, Family Guy, and the Adult Swim shows, that has won over a lot of people.

The fact that this has happened to the Simpsons is kinda sad
actually.  Maybe they should have ended it's run when it was in
    it's prime afterall.

  • I finally saw the 47th Grammy Awards
which I recorded on tape for later viewing.  I started watching it
at around 6:30pm thinking that I'll just catch the first half since
    it's a 3 1/2 hour show with commercials.  Well, by 8pm, I was done
with the whole show!  That's right, I fast forwarded through the
commercials and most everything I wasn't interested in (which I guess
    was over half the show).

Firstly, is this an awards show or just a concert on TV?  Because
I could have sworn that there were more live performances than actual
awards given out.  It also didn't help that a lot of the
performances were very luke warm and weren't really that
exciting.  You got the given good ones like Green Day and U2, but
overall there weren't any acts that was spectacular.  The funny
thing about that is that they made many many attempts at making
memorable performances.  The intro was with a mix of five
different bands switching between a popular hit of theirs.  Lasted
too long, could have been better.  Then you have other "should
have been great" performances like Jamie Foxx making a cameo
appearance, Queen Latifah, Marc Anthony - Jennifer Lopez duet, that
Southern Rock thing, and the collaboration between popular artists
singing the Beatles' "Across the Universe."  I guess on paper, all
that looked good, because in reality it wasn't all that.

Also, I admit that the Grammy's wanted to pay tribute to Ray Charles,
but he received way too many awards that he really shouldn't have
gotten.  I mean, album of the year too?!  Too much overkill
    there.

oh yeah, two other things... Does Jamie Foxx think he is Ray Charles
now? I won't be surprised if he releases an album.  Also, does
Alicia Keys have to sing everything like a gospel song?

Oscars is just around the corner too, so let's see how that fares compared to the Grammys.

  • The Day of the Second Choice.  It's been a funny day in terms of plans that needed to be altered at the last minute.

First off, me and my friends were going to this one restaurant to eat
Dim Sum.  The wait ended up to be almost one hour already with no
signs of getting in anytime soon.  In fact, we were "no.2" on the
waiting list, and no.1 hasn't even gone in yet.  Not only that,
but they've been seating smaller parties over big parties (like us)
because of the limited space.  Well, there was another restaurant
with Dim Sum nearby, so me and my girlfriend walked over there to see how long
the wait is.  We walked in, and was given a table
immediately.  I then called my friends to go ahead and walk over,
because we were already ordering food.

Later that day, my friends asked me to join them for Tennis.  They
decided to go to a tennis court that is a little more private, BUT the
courts there were already taken.  We then ended up over at the
local High School that has a lot more tennis courts, which we were
easily able to get not just one but TWO courts to ourselves.  Once
again with the second / alternate choice.

Then that night we decided to go to Tokyo Lobby for some Japanese
food.  The wait to get a table was 30 minutes long.  One of
my friends noticed a hot pot restaurant across from Tokyo Lobby and
insisted we eat there instead because there is no wait.  On par
with the tradition of the day, we ended up at a different restaurant
    than originally intended.

    Humorous ain't it?

  • I saw Cellular on DVD
recently, and I have to admit to being pleasantly surprised at how much
I enjoyed it. As a thriller, once it starts, it never stops, so I
appreciate the pacing they put for the movie.  I also like the
"real time" aspect of the whole thing happening in one afternoon.
The actors didn't really stand out that much, but they were effective
in their roles. The story is somewhat predictable to a degree, but it's
done well enough that you won't mind at all. Definitely worth checking
out, and I would give it a "B."

    ----------------

I also finally got a chance to see Hotel Rwanda
and I was happy that a movie like this is getting some attention
recently. This is a story that shows the state of the world that we
live in, when a country in dire need of help gets shunned by the
nations that should help.  It's a very sad and depressing state of
affairs in the film, but at least it shows awareness to the
    situation.  Don Cheadle
did an excellent job in this film and deserves all the accolades that
he is receiving for his work here.  His character was very
inspiring in the way that he dealt with the crisis. This film is like
the Schindler's list movie for Rwanda, and is one of the best films I've ever seen, which I shall give an "A."

    ----------------

Ong-Bak: Muay Thai Warrior is a good martial arts film, but it really isn't as spectacular as others
are hyping it up to be. It's definitely better than many martial arts
movies that's been showing up of late though, because it feels
nostalgic to movies like The Big Boss, Project A, and even Fist of
    Legend
. It's also a great showcase for Phanom Yeerum (Tony Jaa) who
definitely has talent as a martial arts action star. It has a decent to
mediocre plot and the stunts aren't as stunning as I was led to believe
they were going to be. The "replays" for the stunts can get tiring too.
The fighting though is top-rate with some great choreography. The
camera-work and lighting in particular are excellent in showcasing the
grittiness of the fights. All in all, I definitely recommend the movie
just for Phanom Yeerum. So it is definitely worth checking out and I would give it a "B-."

oh, and I thought this was funny (taken from imdb)...

To those of you of legal age...if you think your liver is strong enough, I challenge you to face the Ong-Bak drinking game...

there are only two rules, but I assure you this will be enough.

Rule #1: Whenever Tony Jaa hits someone with his elbow take a drink
Rule #2: Whenever the same move is shown from a different angle, take 2 drinks

To those who are truly brave, you may modify Rule 1 into this:
Whenever Tony Jaa his someone with his elbow take a drink, if the blow is delivered to the top of his victims head, take 2

  • First off, for some reason I thought the images in the album cover were doves or birds or something, I guess I was wrong.    Going into Modest Mouse - Good News For People Who Love Bad News, I honestly wasn't sure what to expect.  I've only heard one song (Float On) and a little bit of another (Ocean Breathes Salty).  Being that this is considered in the "alternative" genre, I'm not entirely the best person to judge the material. However,
I did enjoy the album, even though I wasn't blown away by it.  It
seemed that I gravitated towards the more "standard" tracks than the
really alternative ones.  I'm not sure where I stand in
recommending the album, because it depends if a person is willing to
    listen to alternative music.

My track choices right now (plus the popular "Float On")...
    04) Ocean Breathes Salty
    11) Satin In A Coffin
    13) Blame It On The Tetons
    15) One Chance
    16) The Good Times Are Killing Me

    ------------------------

To be honest, I wrote off this band as another "garage rock" type band
that can't produce anything really appealing in the long term.
Well, listening to Jet - Get Born,
I've grown an appreciation to their throw-back sound to simple rocking
tunes. This album has a good mixture of rocking sounds with riffs that
sound almost like AC/DC, and some soft rock that come off more
impressive to me than their harder stuff.  All in all, the three
singles out right now (Are You Gonna Be My Girl, Cold Hard Bitch, Look What You've Done), plus the really well done album, I've gotta now give Jet a big recommendation for fans of good old rock and roll.

Along with the great three singles out now, these are some other good picks...
    03) Rollover D.J.
    06) Move On
    08) Get Me Outta Here
    10) Come Around Again
    12) Lazy Gun

  • So it's ash wednesday again. That means lent is here.  Which means
that it's time for no meat days again! Now, I may be a catholic, but I
don't even go to church every sunday, which is a baaddd thing I
guess.  One thing that I do follow though is the whole fasting and
stuff, because it's the least I could do. *shrugs*

So, any good suggestions of restaurants that has good fish / seafood
selections for a Catholic to eat? I'm already thinking fish tacos and
fish fillets as options for me.
