Recently I actually helped a friend of mine "re-learn" how to
drive.  I say re-learn because my friend does have a driver's
license, but no car, which means no practice for a long time, and was
really really really rusty at it.  It's been a while since I
thought somebody how to drive, and I rather enjoyed being a teacher /
trainer again. I've always prided myself in being very patient when it
comes to teaching somebody to do something.  I've always tried to
be as simple and easy to understand, when it comes to my giving
instructions to somebody.  I also avoid yelling or sounding too
alarmed when they make mistakes, and I have always tried to be very
understanding as well as encouraging. I think if I really wanted to
pursue an alternate career, a teacher wouldn't be so bad.

You Are a Mai Tai

You aren't a big drinker, but you'll drink if the atmosphere is festive. And when you're drunk, watch out! You're easily carried away.

This upcoming weekend is one that I've been waiting for, for a couple
of years now.  Why you ask? It's the wide release of the movie SERENITY! This is the movie that was created to continue the story of the TV show Firefly,
which was unjustly cancelled after just 11 weeks on the air. Truly it
was one of the best TV series to have come out in the past decade, and
the fact that a film was able to spun-off from it, shows that miracles
can happen.  I call out to everybody to support Serenity, as this
is just the kind of film that needs to succeed.

I've seen all the new TV shows of this fall season that I wanted to check out, so here are some quick verdicts...

How I Met Your Mother
- Lite humor with a sense of thinking that it's "edgy" but not really.
Neil Patrick Harris' character is the best one in the show so far. I'm
not planning to follow this.

Kitchen Confidential - Not
out to put one-liners or intentional jokes, but more of a "isn't this a
funny situation" kinda comedy. Bradley Cooper seems at home with his
role. I'm not planning to follow this.

My Name Is Earl -
It's got a unique take on some humorous situation, but falls a little
too much on the sentimental "aawww" moments that take you away from a
pure comedy. Jason Lee and Ethan Suplee are definitely the ones that
will carry the show.  In it's own way it's good, but I'm not
planning to follow this.

Supernatural
- A great combination of the X-Files and Buffy the Vampire
Slayer.  It's got humor, suspense, action, and some real scary /
creepy moments. Jensen Ackles and Jared Padelecki are very likeable in
their roles. I'm definitely following this so far.

Invasion - This is another genre mystery serialized show that is common nowadays because of the popularity of a show like "LOST."
The show is banking a little too much on the main mystery of the story,
but it's honestly not as interesting as they were hoping it would be.
I'm giving it a couple more episodes to decide if I'll completely
follow it.

Everybody Hates Chris
- If you like the humor of Chris Rock, you will love this show. It's
got some genuine funny moments and a likeable cast of characters. Tyler
James Williams does an incredible job in the title role, especially
considering his age.  I'm definitely following this so far.

Reunion - Great great great
concept, but bad bad bad writing.  It's too bad really, because I
was hoping that this would be good. I'm not planning to follow this.

Naruto -
Technically not a new show, since this anime has been out for a couple
of years now in Japan.  It's enjoyable enough, but it's nothing
quite original and could get stale in the long run.  With that
said, I'm definitely following this so far.

I recently had a blast from my childhood when I bought the board game Scotland Yard,
which is a game that pits a team of detectives searching for the
elusive "Mr.X." For a more detailed description of it, go here... "Scotland Yard Review."
Before I go on, as you can tell, I'm not above playing board games even
at my age, but I don't care.  Anyways, it's a game that I haven't
played for 15 years, so it was a nice feeling playing it again. 
It's rather fun and pretty simple to play, but it's a lot harder to
play the part of the detectives than I remember.  We had to modify
the rule a bit as a handicap, and may consider modifying it again a bit
the next time we play.

Playing the game really was a reminder to me at how much years has passed by
since I was still a young boy.  Sometimes I feel like I've never
left that age, but reality would remind me to think otherwise.

I was once again on the radio with the "what is your deal" segment of the Kevin & Bean show!
I actually tried to get on the past few days with no success and this
morning looked the same again when I did my first three attempts, but
eventually got on at the fourth try.  Unlike last time when I was
using my earpiece, I held my cellphone like normal, because I sounded
"muted" the last time I called
with my hands free setup. I thought maybe this time I'll sound clearer
by doing things this way. I tell ya, there's a reason why I use a hands
free phone when I'm driving... but then, I got skillzz, so I handled it
just fine.

So I called them up as someone who has seen the new show "Everybody Hates Chris" 
before it's aired on TV. Honestly, I wasn't sure if this conversation
went better than last time, because I think several times we were kinda
talking over each other a bit (I'll check the recording later
today).  The reason I called ofcourse was for the prize, which was
a football Jersey and Jacket (oh, and a DVD of The Longest Yard).
I was on hold for about 2-3 minutes waiting for the confirmation about
the prize. I was then comtemplating the idea that I call every week,
and thought that would be a cool idea. The screener then came back on
and I was then told that I was not eligible for the prize because I
already won something the last time I called. "60 days between prizes" was apparently the information that I ignored to pay attention to the last two times I called!

So let's see, what were the prizes I won the last two times? There was a DVD set for Season 1 of America's Next Top Model, and a free preview screening for The Island.
I didn't bother picking up the DVD, and I didn't care about going to that movie.
Then there was the one from last week, which was another DVD set for
Season 2 of Da Ali G show.  Nope, didn't care to pick that up
either. But a football jersey and jacket? I wanted that! Damn 60 days.
