Well it finally happened, and I can't say I wasn't expecting it. My YouTube account has been permanently suspended due to copyright infringement. As much as we see copyrighted material all over youtube, it doesn't mean somebody isn't cracking down on them. I'm sure several of the videos I uploaded will show up in somebody else's account, they'll get it taken down, then somebody else will have it, and the cycle continues.
It's unfortunate too, because I was rather enjoying uploading video clips from TV, the internet, and my own personal video recordings (concerts). I even got some honors from some of the videos I uploaded. The videos that seemed pretty popular that I uploaded were the "Wii vs PS3 spoof," Dragonforce performing at AOTS, the X-Play Naruto funnies, and the Meg & Dia videos. I was able to achieve a ranking (out of the top 100) in "most viewed channel," "most linked video," "most linked video in music," and "top favorite in music" in the short few months my youtube account existed.
I'm considering creating a new account to upload the legitimate stuff that I did have in my cancelled account, and I might have another one up as early as later this week. Maybe I'll take advantage of xanga's very own video option, or google video is also another possibility.
Next time around, I'm going to be just a little bit more careful with what I upload. In particular, I need to avoid videos that usually gets flagged for copyrighted material. The main complaints I personally came across from where NBC-Universal and Pay per view related stuff. I think movie related video clips also gets flagged, but I haven't uploaded anything like that yet. I noticed that the videos I uploaded that no one seemed to care about copyright issues were TV commercials, foreign programming, G4TV clips (Attack of the show, x-play), and variety shows (the soup, best week ever). Maybe they were just moving really slow with removing those, or they really don't care. Ofcourse, the stuff I personally shot footage for with my own digital camera should be okay (concert footage are debatable) and I had considered doing some anime music video type things or re-dubbing over existence footage spoofs. Either way, hopefully my next youtube account survives longer.
