I'm sure we're all familiar with the Mel Gibson debacle about his drinking and his anti-semitism remarks. In fact, a lot of people are planning to stop watching any movies Mel Gibson related as protest to his actions. I personally find that decision to be very questionable. I understand the basis behind it, not wanting to support somebody you don't particularly like or respect. But how do you know that the many other movies you do watch or music you do listen to, aren't supporting another despicable person? Does the personal life or opinion of a celebrity or artist really really matter if the movie or music is really good?

haha I think you answered your own question. "despicable" is one of those subjective words. what may be unsavory behavior to you is acceptable to someone else. that or people just don't care to dig into others' personal lives so they dwell on front page material and focus on those tidbits.
Many people may not agree with an artist's methods, feelings or actions, but if the movie or music is really good, I don't see why they should not appreciate it. A socially good or bad person might have an equal chance at creating a remarkable work of art, so why should we shun the bad? It's on how society judges other people
