wooh! This has been an expensive week for me. I bought several things this week that combined reached over $1,500.
Halo 3 - Limited Edition
Knocked Up - 2 disc collectors edition
Canon
PowerShot S5 IS 8.0 MP Digital Camera 12X Optical Zoom2x - Transcend
8GB Secure Digital High-Capacity(SDHC) Flash Card
IOGEAR
GFR212SD USB 2.0 Card Reader
RCA
DRC285 DVD Player with HDMI & HD Upconversion
Olevia
Black 42" 16:9 8ms LCD HDTV Model 542iWait wait wait, what was that? Is that an HDTV in that list? oh yeah that's right, I have now joined the growing number of happy HDTV owners. I even stayed awake since Thursday, awaiting the shipment to arrive. Now, it's not a high budget HDTV like a Samsung or a Sony, but it's a good entry level unit that's got most everything I'm looking for. It is a 42 inch screen and not some glorious 50+ inch screen, but I think it's pretty big already. It's not a 1080p unit because quite honestly, besides game consoles and blu-ray / HD-DVD (which I'm boycotting), most broadcasts are set to 720p anyway. Standard definition TV signals don't look bad on this 720p unit in "aspect" mode too (I'm not a fan of the squish look that "full screen" does for video that's made for a 4:3 ratio). I do have to mention that it only has one HDMI port, which I'm guessing might be a problem in the future (works great with my upconverter DVD player though). Overall, I am pleased with my purchase, even if the only thing really HD that I own is my xbox360.
BTW, my digital camera is also pretty darn awesome too.
