I swear the current "emo" trend has to settle down. I'm starting to get tired of it, and how it's pretty much an abused moniker that means moody whiny kids or songs about moody whiny kids. In a way, I just don't get it. What's so great about celebrating a lifestyle that involves feeling sorry for yourself? I understand that some people are just going with the fashion of tight
jeans, dark clothes, and eye covering bangs, and I suppose I don't mind
them being posers (as long as they can live with it). It's just the general attitude of what makes an
emo... emo is what bugs me.As for the music that comes from emo, it's one thing to sing about subject matters that they feel emotional about, however sometimes it's just singing about how they are asking for pity. You may not know this but emo music has been around since the mid 1980s, but because it slowly transitioned it's more alternative hardcore style to include indie rock stylings, most emo songs today are just filled with self-pity whiny ready to break into tears singing. While I do have some emo albums that I actually do enjoy, I have to say that it's a genre that isn't growing in numbers much in my CD collection.
The one emo thing that I'm not going to get tired of though? Emo jokes. Because of the position they have put themselves in, it's just so easy to poke fun at the kids who embrace the emo lifestyle. Heck that one short most memorable scene in Harold & Kumar 2 was an emo joke as well. Oh well, like what somebody asked, "Why pick on the emos, aren't they hurting enough already?"

haha it just bugs me when people call me emo when i paint my nails black =P even if it's just french tips!!!
i guess being called emo is better than being called depressed though. maybe that's the appeal...
Looking back in my life, I saw that for part of it, I was kinda emo. That was before it had a "name." Now that I realize how I was, I wish I could go back in time and slap myself. Really really hard.
I don't excuse the poser emos either.
It's the middle of summer and you have a black hoodie on? Competition boxers use it go sweat off weight before qualifications but I guess emos just want to get skinnier.
And what's with the tard look? Does everyone and their mother have to now wear baseball caps at every angle but forward (I know this isn't strictly emo but the guys that have the tard cap on under their hoodies really tick me off).
Let's not forget the tight pants pulled down to show the undies. When people wore baggy pants I could understand but when you're wearing tight pants, you're really trying hard. I guess they get made fun of but I don't think the bullies are constantly giving them wedgies. Maybe a recent wedgie is a badge of honor.
All these privileged kids living in the burbs complaining about their tragic life need to go do some humanitarian work where people are really suffering.
I summon Ogre from The Revenge of the Nerds to cluestick the whole lot of them.
