  • You Are Not Prejudiced
Not only are you color blind, but you're also ethnicity blind, gender blind, and sexual orientation blind.
You don't judge someone until you truly know them. And even then, you're probably reluctant to judge.
You try to treat everyone equally. Everyone has a fair chance with you.
Good job - there's not a prejudiced bone in your body.
What I've been listening to this week...

  • Out of all the many different video streaming sites out there, I have to admit that youtube is still king when it comes to ease of use and the amount of videos you can find on it. Familiar with the phrase "just google it?" You can add "it's probably on youtube" as a phrase you can commonly use now. Ofcourse with copyrighted material, some videos are simply not going to be easily available on youtube, but it's still better than most others. The streaming quality is also top notch, as I noticed a lot of other video sites have huge buffering issues, and who wants to wait for a viral video to load? However lately, because youtube is now encouraging people to upload "hi-quality" videos on it's site, some people's vids tend to have that buffering problem now too. Stop it folks, be happy with the 320x240 resolution that is standard, as you don't really need to watch hi-def viral videos. "Play and watch" is infinitely better than "play and wait then watch."

On a somewhat related note, I've been playing with DirecTV's "on demand" service, and it's really a mix bag of sorts. The "on demand" part of the service is a misnomer, and it's really more of a "video download" service not unlike the xbox LIVE service. You have to be connected to a broadband internet service, which allows you to download the video "on demand" that you want to watch. A half hour show could literally take hours for it to download, and it'll be all buffering like crazy if you try and watch it in real time, so it's more like "DirecTV on demand for later" service. Not only that, but since you have to be connected to the internet, it's also going to be eating up bandwidth. I pretty much only use the service when I'm either away from home for several hours or asleep, that way it doesn't get in the way of my internet time.

  • Movies I've seen recently...

    Tropic Thunder  (2008)  B+

As a satire on Hollywood film making, the people
behind it, and the different types of actors in movies, "Tropic
    Thunder
" is a great action comedy by director / actor
    Ben Stiller. One
of the first things you'll notice is that this is a hard rated R, with
crude language and violent looking scenes that plays off as comedy. If you find humor in a scene where a seemingly inexhaustible amount of blood is spurting out from a head shot wound from a dying soldier, and the blood is practically showering the people trying to save him, then this is the film for you. The
movie is over the top, funny, and entertaining, but because the film is
more or less a huge inside joke, the comedy will be hit or miss
depending on whether you get what it's making fun of (some knowledge of
the movie "Apocalypse Now" would help). The whole cast is great, but
    it's
Robert Downey Jr playing blackface, and Tom Cruise as the rude
vulgar studio executive that steals the show. Prepare to be shocked and
    laugh at the same time.

Star Wars : The Clone Wars  (2008)  C+

The only thing really dissapointing about "Star
    Wars : the Clone Wars
," is that nothing really spectacular story wise
happened to warrant a full feature theatrical release. I did more or
less enjoy the film, but it really only just serves as an introduction
point to the CGI series. Speaking of which, the CGI art style used for
the movie is not as "pleasing to the eye" as I hope it could have been.
This did however have the best character representation of Anakin
Skywalker pre-Darth Vader, Jedi Padawan Ahsoka Tano surprisingly is a
very enjoyable new addition to the cast, and I like that they gave the
clone troopers personalities. When it comes down to it though, I still enjoyed the movie, even if it is just a series of battle scenario after battle scenario,
which involves tons of shoot outs, lightsaver duels, and spaceship dog
fighting, which I guess makes the movie live up to the word "wars" in
    the title "The Clone WARS."

    Lost Boys : The Tribe  (2008)  C

As a sequel to the 1987 cult classic "The Lost Boys," "Lost Boys : The Tribe" is simply not set up to be anymore than what you would expect from a direct to home video movie. Sure this is a by the numbers, B-movie, and somewhat campy film about a Vampire gang lead by Angus Sutherland, and the two teenage siblings; played by Tad Hilgenbrink and Autumn Reeser, who get dragged into this particular night life. Despite some nonsensical scenes, and poor dialogue, I actually found the movie enjoyable to watch. I particularly liked some of the humor in the film, like when it was mentioned how it was terrifying to crave drinking blood especially considering the fact that person is a vegetarian. Ofcourse part of the appeal of this sequel is to see Corey Feldman reprise his role as Edgar Frog, and that served it's purpose well. "Lost Boys : The Tribe" is no where near as good as it's predecessor, but it was still rather entertaining.

  • Ah the internet, lots of new words either being invented, altered, or abused, for whatever purpose needed. A more recent one that i have never heard of used came to my attention.

"White Knight" or "White Knight Syndrome"

According to the Urban Dictionary, it's a personality characteristic found in most males that lead them to:

    1. rush to the aid of any female they see who appears in any form of distress.

    2. Become attracted to said damsel in distress.

    3. Follow the dying code of chivalry and generally act like a nice guy.

That doesn't sound so bad right? Well, howabout when someone is "white knighting?" In forum parlance, it means rushing to the aid of another poster for
whatever reason. An accusation typically reserved for when a poster is
being hammered by another poster(s) and the accused leaps in to defend
them, usually without thinking things through as to why the person is
    being attacked.

I see white knighting happen often when a female celebrity or a female in general is being "attacked" by a lot of posters in message boards or forums. There's always going to be that one guy who has to be the white knight and defend the honor of the girl. Whenever that happens, somebody will always have to remind him, that he should be aware that the girl he is defending is not going to hook up with him because he is being a white knight, it's all just wishful thinking on his behalf. While I guess it's admirable to defend a girl's honor; even if it is just the internet. I have to admit that it's usually really just some guy who wishes he could have a girlfriend or someone who just wants to get laid. Sad ain't it? But you know it must be true.

  • - The Sept 12 release of Metallica's newest album "Death Magnetic" is coming up soon, and they recently premierred one of the new songs "Cyanide" at Ozzfest this year. All metal-heads online (including myself) have weighed our opinions on the song, compared it to previous songs and albums by the band, and ofcourse speculated on what the new album would sound (silly, based on one song?). It's fascinating at the many different impressions people all over the place are having, and it goes to show that songs in general feel, look, and sound, different to everybody. After hearing the song lots of times now, I gotta say I'm really loving
it. It's the bass groove and the main riff that pulls me in. It's not a pure
thrash metal sound, it's not really that fast and sorta has a laid back
feel to it, but it still makes me want to frickin move around, like a Metallica song only should!

    - I recently got a chance to watch the 6th Annual Visual Effects Society Awards on HDNet, and like other awards shows, I placed my guesses on who will win among the nominees. Despite the fact that I had several "...for sure they would choose..." moments, I mostly got it wrong. I at least had some preconceived knowledge on what Visual Effects artists like; water physics and robots, but that only took me so far. I learned that it's not necessarily what "looks good" that wins, which
goes against what regular joes like me usually look for in visual
effects. Simply put, I had absolutely no idea what visual effects people would vote for, which I suppose goes to show how much we don't know what goes on behind putting those special effects in movies.

  • You Are Fencing
You're competitive but not brutally so. You compete to make yourself better.
You find having an opponent to be challenging and rewarding.
You are fierce when you're in a competition, but you don't wish your rivals any real harm.

  • When someone has said something that insulted you, and pretty much attacked your character, what would be your first reaction? If they were right in my face about it, I would clearly answer right back. However in my case, that person insulted me out of sight, not realizing that I was just around the corner. What do you think my next action was? Did I make my presence known, and then answered back? Nope. Did I pretend that I did not hear anything? No. I actually did something I thought was actually out of character for me, I walked the other way, planned to ignore what was said, silently forgave the person, and just let it go. The reason why I chose that as my action was because I honestly did not think answering back would have made a difference. You try changing a stubborn person's way of thinking, and you'll find it's not that easy. It's a waste of time and energy, and you're better off just letting it disappear to the past. This is me putting logic to my decision, with the other reason being that this is a person that I can't exactly avoid anyway. However I've got to think that next time, if that person actually says it in front of my face....
