  • So is California completely screwed with the budget crisis? By the end of 2010, California is projected to have a deficit of $41 Billion. It's not too hard to see that's a lot of money. So what the hell? How did we get to this point? Is it simply government, union, and big business GREED that's the root of the problem? Everybody seems to have opinions, but I'm not really hearing much about substantial solutions to the problems. On one side, the answer is to raise fees and create new taxes, to help pay for the deficit. Fine, I can see why that might be necessary. On the other side, the answer is to cut jobs, cut spending, and pass out I.O.Us to people. Okay, so those seem to get even more extreme, but sounds like an unsurprising response to the dilemma with the budget. Being that these solutions are pretty hard to swallow, all I hear now from people are complaints about them. "Why do I need to pay more?" "Why do I need to lose my job?" "Why do I need to have an extra day to pay for Child Care Services?" Yeah, I know, it all sucks, but we're in a budget crisis! All I hear are "me, me, me, me, me." "What about me?" Before bitching about how this will all suck for you, how about at least coming up with an idea for a solution to the problem, or at least try and understand the situation that we are in? We're not all economic majors or whatever, but it's not hard to understand how serious this budget crisis is. When I personally do my budget, I always have to consider the amount of money I actually need to spend, and the amount of money that I should not spend. Sounds like a simplistic comparison to the California Budget Crisis, but isn't that pretty much the gist of what needs to be done?

I swear, the economy and the environment are going bad enough as it is, and things really are going in a downward spiral. It's no surprise that a lot of people are claiming these to be the "end of days times."
