"I'm not buying any more games for the Nintendo Wii." That's what I said after I saw the demo of "Project Natal" for Microsoft's xbox360 at E3. This is Microsoft's motion control peripheral that is meant to compete with the Wii, and based on what I've seen so far, they are off to an incredible start (released sometime in 2010). Don't know what I'm talking about? Just watch these three videos linked below...
Do you see what I mean? Isn't that something else? Especially with the Lionhead "Milo" demo, which should remind people of the movie A.I., Hal from 2001 a Space Odyssey, or Skynet from Terminator. It actually reminded me more of "Seaman" for the Sega Dreamcast, but a far, far, far more advance project than that game. As somebody else said regarding the prospects of Project Natal, "we are living the future."
Now in terms of gaming, I'm sure some games that are meant to be played with a hand held controller will not need Natal, but imagine the possibilities that it will bring to the games that are actually made for it. It'll really be like the Wii, but a bit more ambitious. Maybe it'll actually allow us to use the motion sensing aspect combined with a controller, or maybe have us hold a facsimile of a steering wheel or a gun. Just browsing through the menu with a flick of the hand or using your voice with it, are just a few of exciting things that come with Project Natal. Sure better technology like this most likely exists already with some big corporations or the military, but Natal is for a game system, so that's got to account for something.
