It's been almost two weeks now since my wife left the country to visit her family abroad. Originally I had a lot of things planned to do by myself, watch movies, hang out with friends, etc... what ended up happening? Nothing much at all. In fact, I was mostly home on my free time, either sleeping, working on the computer, or watching TV. I didn't even go out to see any movies, which is something I really should have taken advantage of. The only productive thing I can think of is that I installed Windows 7 on my laptop. That's pretty much it.
Another weird thing is that since I'm not much of a cook, I thought for sure I would be spending lots of money on food. Nope, that didn't happen either, and I'm shocked at how far left overs can carry me. I didn't even touch the frozen food in my freezer. What helped me a lot is that two big holidays passed, which means that I had meals with my parents. Two family lunches for Christmas time, and two family lunches for New Years. Whatever leftovers I got from those meals were going to last me for as long as possible. Well, as I write this, I still have leftovers. I suppose it helped that I took leftovers that was good enough for multiple people, and so it worked out that I'm by myself. Full disclosure: I did eat out at least one time, and there were a few nights I just ate at work. But still...
I've got the rest of Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, to do.... something.... anything.... on my own before she gets back. Car service is definitely going to happen, and I want to see Sherlock Holmes still (and possibly Youth In Revolt). Friday night, my wife will finally be back from her trip. Gotta say that I am having some withdrawals from my wife not being here (I'm sure our dogs miss her as well), so I'm really looking forward to seeing her soon.

I say don't do anything. Sometimes the best thing about bachelorhood is the fact that you really didn't have to do anything at all. The whole hanging at home, wasting time with buddies is underrated.
Also leftovers are great. One time when I was completely by myself, I actually lost weight because no one was around to remind me to have regular meals. I only ate when I felt like it. It was great.
Although I have to admit, the bachelor diet of ramen and egg might hurt you in the long run.
