  • - Dog runs off part 17 (at least it feels like it happened that much) –

So I went over to visit my dog at my girl’s house. First, I let her out
to the backyard to do her business before walking her.  So I went
back in the garage which she happily walks right in.  I
immediately noticed that one of the garage doors was wide open!  I
must have accidentally pressed the garage door opener on my belt when I
was at the backyard.  My dog didn’t notice it open though, so I
tried to call her out to the backyard again.  She must have
thought I was going to leave her abandoned in the backyard, she didn’t
want to come back out.  So taking a risk, I decided to try and
close the garage door and hope she wouldn’t notice….. yeah,
right.  SO, hearing the garage door move, she runs straight
    out.

I chase her out and noticed her head towards one of the neighbor’s
house, and she disappears off to a corner of the side wall.  I
thought I could maybe corner her there, but upon getting there I
realized that there was no side gate from keeping her out of that
house’s backyard. At first I started calling out for her to get out of
the backyard…. yeah, right, once again. I got two choices, and that
was to ring the doorbell, or just trespass.  I chose option number
two with an excuse in mind already.  So I chased her in the
backyard and she was pretty intent of not getting caught.  I
eventually chased her out of the backyard, without getting the
attention of the residence too (or so I think).

Upon exiting the backyard, I see her run down the road and off the
corner.  All of a sudden, I hear the scream of a little
girl.  I run faster and notice my dog fighting with the little
girl’s pet dog.  The girl was crying and screaming, trying to swat
my dog away from her dog with her leash.  I get in between the two
dogs, and chased my dog away from the girl and her dog.  I still
couldn’t grab her though! She then runs far off to another house’s
front yard and starts taking a dump!  I try and run there as fast
as i’m able to grab her while she is preoccupied, but by the time i get
there, she was all done.  So the chase is still on!

Eventually, she stops over another front yard sniffing around, and I
sneaked up close to her and grabbed her tail. She barks at me, but I
grab her collar and get her to stop.  I then walk her back home
and kept her leashed in the garage. Bad Dog, bad baaaddd dog!

Later on, I went house to house looking for that little girl and her
dog, and eventually found her home.  I talked to her and her
parents about what happened, and they were thankful that I showed up to
tell them.  She and her dog weren’t hurt, but I went ahead and
gave them my telephone number, just in case something comes up.
Luckily, they were kind and understanding about the situation, and I
gave them my sincere apologies.  I hope that the incident didn’t
traumatize the little girl too much, and she would still be brave
enough to walk her dog out the house.

    oh that dog of ours!
